“EctoMycorrhizal Community” (eMyCo) is a database that brings together information on the structure of ectomycorrhizal fungal communities. eMyCo provides a useful tool for analysing and comparing ectomycorrhizal fungal communities in different environments particularly in the Mediterranean area from independent research projects each characterizing a specific community and its habitat. The mycorrhizas are described using a simplified set of morphological characteristics and by ITS sequences of the symbiotic fungus.

eMyCo providesa searchable databasethat makes it easier and faster tocompare among different research projects sharing one or more environmental parameters and / or taxonomic units. This approach provides more exhaustive data about the ecological requirements of an ectomycorrhizal fungal species and its interaction with the others members of a community. Further eMyCo is able to estimate some ecological indexes of a community to obtain useful information about its structure and diversity and to compare them with those of the other communities.

eMyCo currently contain 600 ectomycorrhizal species belonging to 13 communities.
